Larysa Andreeva Johnston was born and raised in the western part of Ukraine. She always

dreamed as a little girl to be able to paint but she was quite involved in her studies and work and did not start painting until much later in her life. Larysa studied music in the Conservatory in Odessa where the flute was her principal instrument.

 

After 23 years in the music industry she studied psychology and became a business instructor for the American International firm Proctor and Gamble for ten years. Because of her artistic background she studied acting and became an actress in the theater and film industry along with being a television presenter in Kiev.

 

Larysa in recent years moved from her native country of the Ukraine to Newport Beach, California

where she began her painting career by taking online classes in drawing. Mixing different materials

together like metal leaves, texture paste, glitter, pieces of glass, sand and other various materials. In the first 2 years she completed over 200 paintings. Larysa was accepted to a number of art shows in Southern California where she exhibited. She won 2nd prize in the 62nd annual Catalina Island Art Show in 2021.

 

In the fall of 2022 she moved to the Hoboken area of New Jersey and has been

exhibiting at some of the local art shows like Morristown. She recently became a member of the New Jersey Art Association and at one of the exhibitions in New Jersey She won the third prize of the Award of Excellence.

One thing about Larysa is that she is always looking to create and explore new designs and patterns in her paintings.
